Property description

Ash View is Kirklees Council’s brand-new Extra Care Housing scheme which opened in October 2024. It is located in the Ashbrow area of Huddersfield, close to the A641 Bradford Road and the Asda supermarket.

The scheme has 50 self-contained flats. All flats are wheelchair friendly and there are 2 elevators in the scheme.

 

 

In addition, the scheme has its own communal and garden spaces where residents get together socially.

Care and support will be available from our chosen care provider, Community Integrated Care- a health and social care charity, delivering a host of specialist, community-based services, that support people to lead fulfilling and independent lives.

 

These properties will be managed by Kirklees Council and the scheme has the following criteria: -

• Applicants must have an assessed Care need.
• Applicants must have an assessed Housing Need with a current Choose ‘N’ Move application.
• Suitable for people aged 50 and over although younger people can be considered dependent on individual circumstances and needs.

If approved, allocations will be made via Choose’n’Move. The Empty Homes Team, Housing Management, will complete a manual review of the shortlist for each property and offers will be made, in priority order, based on the following eligibility criteria:

• Under-occupation
• Assessed medical need for level access accommodation.
• Over 60

Ordering of shortlists will be as follows:

• Band (A) Applicants - Under occupying a Local Authority home by 2 or more bedrooms and with an assessment medical need for level access accommodation. 

 

• Band (A) Applicants - Under occupying a Local Authority home by 2 or more bedrooms.

 

• Band (C) Applicants - Under occupying a Local Authority home by 1 bedroom.

 

• Band (B) - Applicants with an assessed medical need for level access accommodation

 

• Applicants over the age of 60 allocated based on bedroom entitlement

The Pet Policy came into effect on 22 June 2020 and sets out Kirklees Councils (KC) approach to the keeping of pets in Council accommodation

Permission will be required to keep cats or dogs in Council accommodation. Below is a summary of the pets allowed in properties, full information is available on Keeping pets | Kirklees Council

• Permission will be required to keep pets in council accommodation, and this applies if you are already or tenant, or looking to become a tenant in the future
   
• Some of our flats do not allow dogs, so please check out the policy before bidding on a property on Choose N Move.
   
• Before we make an offer of a property, we will check that the number of pets you own complies with the Policy. If not, then we will be unable to proceed with the offer of accommodation
   
• Permission will normally be granted provided there are no restrictions on the property, the pets are looked after, and conditions of your tenancy agreement are being met
